Community Principles

Six quiet promises we make to each other.

Qareeb runs on trust. These principles are how we keep that trust alive — short, human, and shared.

  1. 01

    Treat each other with respect.

We come from many countries, madhhabs, industries, and life paths. Different is welcome. Rude is not.

    Welcomed
    • Disagreeing with an idea kindly
    • Correcting a mistake in good faith
    • Asking sincere questions
    Not welcomed
    • ×Personal attacks or slurs
    • ×Mocking someone's practice, identity, or country
    • ×Public shaming as a hobby
  2. 02

    Represent yourself honestly.

The best of what we do here depends on people being who they say they are, and roles being what they claim to be.

    Welcomed
    • Accurate profile, experience, and titles
    • Real names or clearly acknowledged handles
    • Real companies you work for
    Not welcomed
    • ×Fake identities or stolen photos
    • ×Fabricated experience or credentials
    • ×Impersonating an organization
  3. 03

    Post opportunities honestly.

If you're sharing a job, referral, or paid opportunity, describe it as it truly is.

    Welcomed
    • Clear scope, compensation, and terms
    • Marking referrals and shared roles as such
    • Publishing official roles from verified employer accounts
    Not welcomed
    • ×Ghost roles that don't exist
    • ×Hidden fees or 'deposit to interview' scams
    • ×Discriminatory role descriptions
  4. 04

    No harassment, no hate.

Qareeb is not a place for hateful speech, targeted attacks, or intimidation. Protecting our members takes precedence over any single account.

    Welcomed
    • Setting your own boundaries
    • Reporting when something feels wrong
    • Muting or blocking freely
    Not welcomed
    • ×Hate speech or slurs
    • ×Sustained harassment across posts, DMs, or comments
    • ×Threats, doxxing, or coordinated pile-ons
  5. 05

    No scams, no exploitation.

Financial harm and predatory behavior — of any kind — do not belong on Qareeb.

    Welcomed
    • Transparent business or commerce posts
    • Genuine mentorship, paid or unpaid
    • Community-first fundraising with clear intent
    Not welcomed
    • ×Investment schemes and guaranteed-return pitches
    • ×Fees to apply, interview, or 'get shortlisted'
    • ×Deceptive DMs and phishing
  6. 06

    Keep it constructive and professional.

Qareeb sits at the intersection of professional and social. Share your work, your ideas, your family moments, your questions. Keep it real, keep it kind.

    Welcomed
    • Personal reflections tied to work or life
    • Debate, learning, gentle correction
    • Faith-respecting, inclusive language
    Not welcomed
    • ×Rage-bait and shock content
    • ×Sectarian attacks or takfir
    • ×Weaponizing religion to demean others
One ummah, many paths

We don't need everyone to agree on everything. We do need everyone to leave others' dignity intact.
